VegasHD is added to the glitz of life in Las Vegas with the first full-scale, mobile, HDTV production truck to be based in the city.
The unveiling happens tonight at Trader Vic’s in the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, which will also be home to the company’s new HD studio. Robin Leach, an owner and founder of VegasHD, will preside over the launch of the Mobile Video Producer.
The VegasHD MVP unit can handle an array of TV and production services, including ENG/EFP and live event coverage. It is equipped with Sony HDC-1500 cameras, XDCAM HD camcorders, a MDS-8000G multiformat switcher and LUMA LCD monitors.
The VegasHD studio includes equipment from MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems, including the HD-3000 Series 3 Gbps serial digital video fiber-optic transport link.
The combination of the mobile unit and HD studio allows television crews to shoot and deliver HD signals from Las Vegas to anywhere in the world.
“The MVP unit was designed to deliver flexibility and innovation in live event production,” said Alec Shapiro, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Sony Electronics’ Broadcast and Production Systems Division. “That’s why it’s a great fit for what VegasHD is doing, as they work to change the model for HD television field production in Las Vegas.”
