Edirol, a division of Roland Systems Group, chose the NAB Show as the debut venue for several new video and audio tools.
For videographers and small video editing jobs, the V-8 is an eight-channel video mixer. The V-8 offers eight input channels, including one that has an S-video input and 15-pin D-sub for a computer. Twin input buses organize the inputs for the mixer while onboard transition wipes and effects are available.
The F-1 is a portable video recorder with HDV and DV compatibilities. Due to Edirol modifications, the removable hard disk drive is not subject to 4GB file size limitations. The F-1 has USB and FireWire ports plus two additional audio inputs (totaling four audio channels).
For audio enthusiasts, the R-44 is a four-channel portable audio record that uses SD cards as its media. The R-44 offers sample rates from 44.1 kHz all the way up to 192 kHz. Internal effects include a three- and a six-band EQ, limiter, de-esser and an enhancer.
On the conversion front, the VC-200HD and VC-300HD multiformat video converters both have been upgraded to Version Two. New for both platforms are several new features. Conversion support for 23.98p and 24p has been added plus a four-point gamma correction. Also, the RS-422A port has been activated for use with select remote control functions.
For presentation duties the new P-10 Visual Presenter has a small LCD monitor screen along with over a dozen programmable function keypad buttons and knobs. Solid-state SD cards are used for storage and playback duties.
