NBC has tapped Digital Rapids to provide media encoding, transcoding and streaming systems for its online coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Digital Rapid’s DRC-Stream tools will encode and stream live video into Web-viewable streams for NBCOlympics.com.
Streams will be encoded in the VC-1 compression format, powered by Microsoft Silverlight technology. Digital Rapids Transcode Manager will be used to convert affiliate-provided content between compression and file formats for U.S. domestic distribution.
