New HD Coders for NTT Electronics

NTT Electronics is introducing HDTV encoder and decoder modules (SC50KE encoder and SC50KD decoder) that are dually compatible with H.264 and MPEG-2. These products maintain the high-quality video of the VASA single-chip coding integrated circuit, which provides reliable results for the use of MPEG-2 in HDTV environments. The modules include encoder and decoder ICs as well as necessary peripherals and high-speed memory. They are fully compatible with 4:2:2 chroma. NTT has transitioned to mass production for these products and has begun taking orders.
NTT has also begun shipping new HV9100 HD/SD encoders/decoders. U.S., China and Japan Broadcasters have already received units. Some of these products are set for use at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
