Myat, a New Jersey-based manufacturer of transmission line and RF filter products, is steadily making its reputation as a company that responds quickly.
The RF sector of the broadcast industry is not known for its quick product development and lightning response to changing requirements, at least according to Phil Cindrich, president of Myat.
“Distribution and transmission are the slowest-moving segment of this market,” Cindrich said, “and Myat is the fastest snail in the garden.”
New from Myat at the 2008 NAB Show is an FM switching combiner that can combine two transmitters into a single output or switch between the two transmitters. This latter operational mode may be needed if a station’s primary transmitter fails and it must switch to its backup.
Myat is also focusing on making all parts of the transmission chain more efficient, which reduces power consumption by the transmitter and maximizes the customer’s investment in its technology. Cindrich said that Myat is working with several transmitter manufacturers to examine how a transmission system loses signal and how losses can be reduced.
